Topics in this week's issue include: recapping all of the new information that was brought about last week regarding the Delta variant, breakthrough Covid cases & vaccine efficacy against the new variant. The CDC made two big announcements that significantly changed the fight against Covid, with the first being on Tuesday where they recommended all individuals, even those fully vaccinated, to wear masks indoors. The first announcement has driven a lot of activity surrounding masks, and here at KOACORE we have seen a 3x price increase in the price of masks over the past three weeks, regarding industrial and commercial lots of 3ply level 1 masks.
The second announcement, which shed new light regarding the Delta variant, showed that vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals can equally spread Covid. Both of these announcements better equip people for the next stage of the pandemic, wherein public life will never be shut down again, but it relies upon individual entities, companies, and people to make decisions for their own communities.
Further on that front, the pandemic continues to rage on in Southeast Asia, further extending manufacturing delays for PPE products. Many schools, as they return over the coming weeks, are debating implementing mask mandates as they return to the classroom. Finally, Pfizer & Moderna raised the price of their vaccine in new contracts with the EU for potential booster shots.
