As many prepare for another thanksgiving amidst the pandemic, new studies have been released and compiled showing the waning efficacy of vaccines against infection. The studies show that those who received a Pfizer vaccine over six months ago have experienced waning protection, to the point where efficacy against infection is around 70%. Moderna is around 80% for infection rates, and while those numbers might be concerning, the vaccines are still highly effective against hospitalization, yielding +90% effectiveness in multiple studies.
In other news, Broadway announced that they are keeping their vaccine/testing mandate through the end of February 2022 at the earliest. Their policy currently is that everyone over 12 has to be vaccinated and anyone under 12 can show proof of vaccination or negative Covid-19 test. The uptick in cases, paired with the renewed guidance, show that while many hope to be moving towards the end of the pandemic, there still is a ways to go before the public can truly put Covid-19 fears behind them.
